After the Bernie Sanders Dank Meme Stash group on Facebook grew into a media juggernaut, and last week’s disappointing performance in Michigan, Hillary Clinton’s camp started to get a little worried. How worried, you ask? Worried enough to try a little counter-intelligence. And epically fail in that attempt.
First up, we have the website Daily News Bin, a pro-Hillary website that published a BREAKING NEWS STORY the other day about Bernie Sanders making a speech to Wall Street. This of course, would make Bernie a big-ass hypocrite, since he has repeatedly called for Hill-Dog to release transcripts of speeches she made to big banks like Goldman-Sachs, for which she was often compensated more than half a million dollars a pop. Bernie has repeatedly said that he has never been compensated for giving a speech to a Wall Street corporation. Daily News Bin called Bern on his double-speak and demanded that he release the transcripts of his speech.
That would be super scandal-icious if it were true. But it’s not. It is, as we say here at GossiPoL, some ol’ bullshit.
In fact, the speech referenced by DNB was at an event called Politics and Eggs in New Hampshire. Both Hillary and Bernie attended and gave speeches. There are transcripts and video of the event. As for Wall Street ties? Well, one of the sponsors of the overall event was Bank of America. They did not pay either individual candidate to give any kind of speech, but rather facilitated the event so the public could attend for free. DNB has since taken that post down after getting a shit ton of blowback for such an amateur move.
Fair enough, Jeb.
The most piss-poor attempt at scandal-making has to have been the one that came from Hill-Dog herself. At a rally in St. Louis on Saturday, Hillary’s mouth-hole barfed up the following statement:
“I always get a little chuckle when I hear my opponent talking about doing [universal healthcare]. Well, I don’t know where he was when I was trying to [get] healthcare in ’93 and ’94, standing up against the insurance companies, standing up against the drug companies.”
To which the Bernie campaign responded, “Standing right behind you.”:
Which would have been bad enough, if there weren’t also a hand-written thank you note from Hillary to Bernie, confirming his presence in the healthcare battle.
I mean, Hillary, gurl, act like you’ve run a smear campaign before!
